Big Sky Youth Empowerment Aerial Workshops

Picture
What a beautiful day being drawn!

Thank you for inviting us :)
Teens from BYEP get to learn the fundamentals of aerial arts in these special classes at Mountain Air Dance.

A little about Big Sky Youth Empowerment:
"At-risk" is a term that doesn't mean much at BYEP. We know every teenager has unlimited potential. Big Sky Youth Empowerment is a program founded for 8th-12th graders to help them build stronger foundations.
At BYEP, we'll help you find what makes you rock. You'll cultivate meaningful relationships and friendships. You'll discover confidence. You'll reach your potential.

We are having a great time teaching the BYEP groups! Visit their website to learn more about the programs offered at Big Sky Youth Empowerment.

Advanced Aerial Workshop Series: Fall 2019

This special series of classes is designed for our instructors and advanced adult students to expand our movement knowledge, have time being a student again and to try new things that will challenge and empower us.

Guest instructors from the Bozeman community will lead us through specialized training in their field of expertise. These classes will serve as continuing education to keep us in tip-top shape and expand our performance and teaching skills.

Injury Prevention w/APRS

Injury prevention is a major focus in all our classes and we have been so fortunate to have Physical Therapists from Bozeman's Advanced Physical Rehabilitation Services join us for two classes in this series. Dr. Ali Ramirez & Dr. Kelsey Wadsworth volunteered their time to design a specialized conditioning routine for aerialists. They were able to work with each dancer to find solutions for gaining strength, control and flexibility specific to our needs. What a great workout!
Thank you so much for your contribution to our team. We ❤️APRS!

“Lift Off!” RDE Ballet

406 Cirque Workshops

Picture
Raison D'etra company members will lead a class in contemporary ballet with a focus on foundational alignment and the idea of finding lift in the body while touching the ground.
Cathy Werner will take the dancers into the air using the silks & lyra to “lift off”!

So excited for this opportunity!

"The Performer-the Space-the Apparatus" A workshop with Paúl Gomex.

How to merge passion and drive with technique, and why. What is the limit between repetition and artistry? Experience how leaving your comfort zone can generate concrete results in an artistic creation. These two classes are dedicated to study the dramaturgy of an aerial act, with a focus on the challenge of blending circus techniques into a theatrical phenomenon.

A huge thank you to Paul for his vision and heart. Such beauty was created in only a few hours. We can't wait to have him back for more performance fun!

"Spiraling" w/Cathy Werner & Michael O'Reilly

“Contact Improv for Aerialists”
w/Blair Bodie & Cathy Werner

Cathy Werner, MFA will introduce movement ideas derived from her years studying the Hawkins Modern Dance Technique. Find your center and learn to spiral the spine, tassel the limbs and flow in and out of the floor. Michael O’Reilly will guide you into the air where you’ll play with connecting the floor work with the aerial hammock. Find musicality, improvise and create!
Join us for this fun partner based experience lead by Cathy Werner & Blair Bodie. Students will learn the fundamental principles of Contact Improvisation; follow the flow of movement with a partner, suspend, support and invert. Werner & Bodie will then guide students into the air exploring those concepts with an aerial apparatus as partner.
